CUSCO MULTI ACTIVE TOUR - 9 days
 
This multi-action trip starts at the fortress of Sasayhuaman, located just above the historical capital of the Incas Cusco. It will end with an unforgettable visit to Machu Picchu, Lost city of the Incas. The coming 3 days will be filled with activities like hiking, rafting, mountainbiking and/or horseriding. You will enjoy the astonishing Andean scenery and there will be time to explore the Indian villages like Chincheros, Maras and Ollantaytambo, where you will appreciate the colonial influence brought by the Spanish conquerors.
 
 
Itinerary
Day 1: Lima
Arrive and transfer to your hotel. If you arrive early, we can arrange city tours, museum visits, or sight-seeing excursions tailored to your interests.
Day 2: Lima - Cusco
Our Peru tour kicks off with a morning flight to the colonial showpiece, Cusco, at the center of the Inca Empire. You'll be picked up at the airport and taken on a quick tour of the beautiful Plaza de Armas on the way to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and becoming accustomed to the altitude (10,856 ft). (B)
Day 3: Cusco
Start the morning with a guided walking tour of Cusco, including the markets, the colonial cathedral, and Koricancha, the impres-sive Temple of the Sun. After a lunch break, you'll spend the afternoon in and around Cusco exploring the temples and visi-ting several prominent Inca sights. Such Peru tour highlights include the stone fortress of Sacsayhuamán; Kenko, with its carved stone surfaces and subterranean altars; the small for-tress of Puka Pukara and the Tambo Machay water temple. In the evening, you'll be briefed about the upcoming multi active days. (B)
Day 4: Cusco - Piuray - hiking
Our kick off point start at the fortress of Sacsayhuaman at an altitude of 3450 msnm. After a 3 hours climb and about 6 km, we will reach an altitude of 4060 msnm, the highest point for today. From here we will have a magnificent view over the Vilcanota and Vilcabamba mountain range and the high platoon lakes. Then our hike continues descending over an distance of about 6 km. After 2,5 hours we reach the shores of lake Piuray, where we will install our camp.
Day 5: Piuray - Moray - mountainbiking or horseriding
Today we will reach a distance of about 17km. It’s your choice in which way you want to do it: on horse, by bike or hiking. Snow capped peaks and hell blue skies will be the scenery. After aprox. 3 km we will reach the village of Chincheros, known for it’s archaeological remains and the beautiful textile works. Take a break and explore the village. Then we travel on to the colonial village of Maras which we will reach after about 2.30 hours, 12 km further on, the breath taking Andean land-scapes of the Sacred Vally and the agricultural fields on our sides. Our next and last point of interest of today will be the archaeological remains of Moray, located 4 km and 1 hour in front of us. Here. At an altitude of 3300 msnm, we install our 2nd camp.
Day 6: Moray - Ollanaytambo - Sacred Valley - rafting
This day we will begin with a downhill via the pre-Inca salt mines of Maras, still in use today. After 2 hours and about 8 km we will reach the shores of the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley of the Inkas. Here we inflate our rubber rafts for a white water adventure. Paddling for about 12 km, passing rapids class II and III, towards the village of Ollantaytambo. A visit to the Inca ruins is optional.
Day 7: Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu
The morning train, leaving from Ollantaytambo, will bring you in a 75 minute trip to Machu Picchu. We will arrive here at about 10.30 a.m. Be sure you have your cameras uploaded because today you will be witness of one of the 7 wonders of the world. An unforget-table day.
Day 8: Machu Picchu - Pisac - Cusco
Surise at Machu Picchu. A full morning of exploring extraordinary Machu Picchu on your own is today's activity. This individualized portion of our Peru tour may include climbing the sacred peak of Huayna Picchu or walking through the cloud forest to the Temple of the Moon. The afternoon train takes you back to Cusco where you'll be transferred to your hotel. (B) Optional: Visit Pisac market.
Day 9: Cusco - Lima - end
This morning you'll be transferred to the airport for the return flight to Lima. If your schedule allows, trip extensions to other regions or extra days in Lima or Cusco may be arranged. (B)
